Poky Linux 3.0

Poky Linux 3.0 is the latest release of yet another mobile linux flavour. More information and screenshots can be found at its website.

Fortunately for Nokia Internet Tablet owners this has an experimental N800 build, here is a guide about flashing it with Poky. For those that are worried about bricking their device: fear not as I was assured by one of the Poky team members that your device will not be bricked since you’re just changing the kernel and the rootfs.

To go back to IT2007 follow the instructions here, here, here or here.

Flashing N800 with Poky (Mac OS X PPC or Linux)

  • PC:Mac OS X PPC- Execute the following command:

  • PC:Linux – Execute as root using the following command. Enter the Admin/root password when prompted:

  • PC: Something like”Suitable USB device not found, waiting” is displayed on the console
  • N800: Now Connect your N800 to your PC through the USB cable and then switch it on by pressing on the power button WHILE holding the Home-button
  • PC: Watch the messages as the image loads to the N800 after which it reboots automatically — you’re done now!
